Though being almost emotionless helped him in accomplishing his missions, it did him bad in the long run. He cannot conceive the meaning of friendship and brotherhood. He's even bewildered on Naruto's initiative to rescue Sasuke.
His great talent for drawing (which by the way, would surely earn a praise from Deidara) is also the source of his jutsu.
